I just found this community and think it's an awesome idea. I actually live more in the Tulsa area, but who cares? I'd really love to know about anything like this happening. I've been told there are showings somewhere in or close to Oklahoma every month (I think, but I really have no idea), but having something definite would be the greatest.

A short intro? Ummm, I'm sixteen and have loved RHPS ever since I can remember. (It's what started my great love of Tim Curry. <3) I've never actually gotten to see a live showing of it, but I'm hoping to soon. And a group of my friends and I were gonna do our own little remake on film (I was originally supposed to be Magenta, which would have been fun, but pushed and got the role of Frank N Furter, which is nice and I wanted it so badly! *_____*), but that's on hold for now. I guess that's it. Yay! (?)

Anyway, I really hope this prospers!! I'd definitely come out to see it!!

Hey everyone,

So, we have alot of stuff to figure out if we are going to do this. I was thinking that it might be a good idea to get together for coffee and an informal meeting sometime next week, so if you are seriously interested in being a part of this cast it would be in your best interest to be there, as casting will definately be discussed. Lizzi and I can get together any evening but Tuesday. What day would be good for everyone else? Also, if you will be there, please try and recruit some friends and bring them with you! =)

9:44 pm - Whatever happened to Saturday night?

OK, everyone...so I've been doing some brainstorming this week, and here's what I've come up with so far.

Halloween is most definately the best time to schedule a first show...most theaters won't turn down a midnight showing of Rocky Horror on Halloween because it's definately going to draw an audience. If we could find a theater that would let us do a Halloween show, we could suggest that they use it as a trial to see if they'd want to continue with a monthly show. If we promoted the heck out of the show (this is a city with many colleges, as well as several nearby universities...there should be NO problem with this.) and showed the theater that there is an interest, then the idea would sell itself to them. The biggest problems with finding a theater: 1. Rocky is an audience participation show, which means throwing relatively messy things (rice, water, toilet paper, and toast for example) around their theater, and ALOT of cleanup. 2. Rocky is NOT family friendly. The movie was rated-R at the time it was released, but "Fuck" is only said once and the sex scenes are nothing compared to the ones on TV nowadays, so it technically rated PG-13 by today's standards. However, the movie's call-back lines are FAR from PG-13 (For example, everytime Brad says his name, the audience yells "Asshole!", and when Janet's name is said, the audience says, "Slut!"...for a complete script of the movie with callback lines, go to http://www.rockyhorror.org/faq/faqtext/t-aud1katzir.txt ). So, basically we just need to find a theater that will let us reak some havoc, and we'll be good. =)

All that aside, let's talk about casting issues. There are 9 major parts:

Dr. Frank n Furter
Brad Majors
Janet Weiss
Rocky Horror
Riff Raff
Eddie/Dr. Scott (we always combined these parts since Eddie is only in the 1st half, and Dr. Scott is in the 2nd)

Trixie (The lips in the beginning song...there is choreography that goes with this part. Trixie was traditionally played by Magenta in the stage show, and can pretty much wear whatever. Originally was dressed in an usherette outfit, but some Trixies just dress sexy, some do a striptease down to bra and panties...it really can be whatever you want it to be.)
Trannsylvanians ("Trannies")

I know that at this point, there are not enough of us to fill all of the parts. We will have to decide later how to fill in those gaps--recruitment among our friends, handing out flyers at the colleges and holding auditions? We'll figure it out. But for now, just to get an idea of where we're at, if you want to be a cast member, then leave a comment on this post with your top 2 or 3 part choices, and any other ideas you want to throw out. Let's keep brainstorming...I really think that we can make this happen!

My top three part choices, in order:

1. Magenta
2. Trixie
3. Janet

7:54 pm - An Intro....

Hello! Thanks for starting this, Meg. I've wanted a local RHPS for ages. Going to one Halloween showing without an actual cast just isn't enough! :p Alright, here goes my intro....

My name is Elizabeth and I've lived in the OKC area for about eight years. I'm currently a public librarian, but I'm looking into a career change (most likely in academics).

I've been into Rocky horror for over 10 years, and I've been to multiple performances both there and in Austin, TX. I've never been a cast member, myself.

I'd love to in RHPS, and I'd love to work on getting it together and going. Let's do it!

8:41 pm - Imma wild and untamed thing

Okay so I'm supposed to tell about myself... or something. I am probably the youngest here, almost seventeen. I just wanna be in the loop about when shows will go down, because I live way off in the middle of no where near Ada. I would love to come to a showing or something, but due to my age and distance I could not perform. I do have a bit of theatrical experience though. Doesn't really matter. Is this adequate, or even necessary? ummm ROCK N ROLL!

12:27 pm

Hi everyone! Nice to see you all here. If you wouldn't mind, please take the time to post an introduction. To get things rolling, I'll begin with mine.

Like I said before, my name is Meg and I just moved back to Oklahoma from Seattle. In the fall, I'll be starting my sophomore year of college at Redlands CC in El Reno, majoring in Equine Science--I want to become a horse trainer/breeder and riding instructor. I was born in Oklahoma City, moved to New York City when I was 9, then moved to Seattle when I was 13. After finally moving out on my own with my boyfriend, I realized how ridiculously expensive Seattle was, and decided that to avoid being a broke-ass college student all the time, we would move back to Oklahoma. So here I am.

My parents met at Rocky Horror, so I pretty much owe my life to the movie. I joined the Seattle cast when I was 16, but Rocky was such a huge thing out there that getting a permanent cast role was highly competitive, so I ended up being a floater for the last 3 years. I've played Janet, Brad, Magenta, Trixie (the lips), and the Criminologist. Magenta is my favorite role. I've also been involved in several Rocky Horror conventions, which are always a blast.

Now it's your turn!
